SPATIAL AUTOMATION

Turn repeatable spatial work into
reliable workflows.

GeoLayers automation chains project data, processing models, publishing and integrations into auditable workflows with explicit security boundaries.

SPATIAL ORCHESTRATION

Automate work that should not be rebuilt by hand

GeoLayers Spatial Automation & Integration Hub turns repeatable GIS operations into explicit workflows with triggers, processing steps, publishing actions, notifications and run history.

Workflow builder

Create ordered processing chains from source loading, filtering and field calculation through publishing and integrations.

Triggers

Run manually, on workspace open, on a timed interval or when a watched layer changes.

Integrations

Publish back to GeoLayers, call HTTPS webhooks or notify the user when a workflow completes.

Run history

Review duration, status, feature counts, step evidence and failures for each execution.

AUTOMATION PIPELINE

A workflow is more than a scheduled script

The automation hub keeps the trigger, processing sequence and evidence together so teams can understand what ran and why.

Define the triggerChoose when the workflow should run and identify the source layer or event that matters.
Prepare the dataLoad a project layer, filter records, calculate fields, summarise values or invoke a saved Processing Model.
Apply safeguardsStop on empty results where appropriate and keep browser execution within bounded feature and payload limits.
Deliver the resultPublish a layer, send a webhook, show a notification and keep a run record for review.
INTEGRATION BOUNDARIES

Automation without exposing secrets

Browser-based automation follows deliberate security rules.

  • External calls use HTTPS/CORS-compatible endpoints.
  • Credential-bearing headers such as Authorization, cookies and API keys are stripped from saved workflows.
  • Portable workflow JSON contains orchestration logic but not secrets.
  • Automatic triggers run only while Studio is open and must be explicitly armed in a browser session.
  • The workflow contract is designed so a trusted server or edge runner can execute the same logic later.
  • Published outputs become ordinary GeoLayers project layers that can continue into dashboards, APIs or governance.
EXAMPLE AUTOMATIONS

Useful patterns for operational GIS

Automation is most valuable where the same spatial check or publishing task needs to happen repeatedly.

Threshold monitoring

Filter a changing layer, calculate or summarise indicators and notify users when defined conditions are met.

Layer refresh pipeline

Run a saved Processing Model when source data changes, then publish the resulting layer.

API

Integration handoff

Send a bounded result or run summary to an approved external HTTPS endpoint.

Repeatable reporting

Generate consistent project layers and evidence for recurring operational or compliance workflows.

Automate your repeatable GIS work

Start with a manual workflow you already trust, then convert the stable steps into an automation chain.
